About Mark T. Murray

Born in Colorado and raised in North Houston, Mark graduated from Baylor University where he excelled in national debate competitions and honed his leadership skills as president of his fraternity. He brought that same level of focus to the South Texas College of Law Houston, further developing his exceptional advocacy skills and earning selection to the prestigious Order of the Barristers. Upon graduation from law school, Mark began his career at Turner, Hendryx and Gasgoyne, litigating cases for defendants in wrongful death and product liability cases before moving to the firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Matthews & Friend to litigate for injured victims.

Mark has practiced law ever since to protect the rights of victims of negligence and wrongdoing, achieving a list of accomplishments and legal achievements few litigators attain. Texas Monthly has named him a Texas Super Lawyer every year since 2003, placing Mark in the top 5% of personal injury attorneys in the state (he is currently listed in the Texas Super Lawyers Top Lawyers and the Houston Region Top 100). In 2011 Mark achieved the No. 1 Texas jury verdict for a workplace safety claim, which was affirmed on appeal by the Texas Court of Appeals and was subsequently inducted into the Texas Verdicts Hall of Fame in 2013. He is a certified member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum and a life member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, placing him among the top 1% of U.S. trial attorneys. He was most recently named a Top 10 Attorney, Personal Injury by the National Academy of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Mark has a long history of giving back to the legal and educational community. He strives to improve the advocacy skills of young lawyers as an adjunct professor at South Texas College of Law Houston, where he has taught for more than 25 years. He is a past president of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association and a life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, the largest charitably funded bar foundation in the country. He served as the 2011 president of the South Texas Alumni Association and is a frequent State Bar of Texas lecturer and contributor. The Klein ISD has recognized Mark on its Alumni Hall of Honor Wall. He received the 2014 South Texas College of Law Houston Alumni Impact Award and was recently honored with the establishment of a scholarship in his name.
